Event: Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers and Chinese American Arts Council Dancers at Lincoln Center Out of Doors

Lincoln Center Out of Doors has some of the best summer outdoor programming in New York,  and this Thursday’s program will features dance performances by Ragmala Dance with Rudresh Mahanthappa, Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers (林坤旸舞蹈团 / 林坤暘舞蹈團), and the Chinese American Arts Council Dancers.

Ragmala Dance and saxophonist Rudresh Mahanthappa will present the New York premiere of Song of the Jasmine which combines South India’s classical Bharatanatyam dance with contemporary jazz.  On August 6, Asia Society will host a talk about the creative process behind Song of the Jasmine.

Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers will present the New York premiere of Be/Longing 2 which was inspired in part by visual artist Lygia Pape and sculptor Anish Kapoor,the Persian poet and philosopher Rumi, and the labyrinth and mandala as metaphors for spiritual journeys.
