Event: Seaport Film & Food Festival – Au Revoir Taipei

Au Revoir

Tomorrow, August 13, the Seaport Film & Food Festival highlights Taiwan with free food and drink from the little culinary wonderland and a screening of Au Revoir Taipei (一页台北 / 一頁台北), the 2010 Taiwanese box office hit and winner of a number of film festival awards.

Here’s a synopsis from the Sydney Film Festival: “Arvin Chens candy-coloured, screwball romance is a frothy Asian-pop delight. When his girlfriend leaves Taipei for Paris, Kai (Jack Yao) mopes around like a lost puppy killing time by serving noodles at his parents late-night cafe and teaching himself French at the local bookstore where he fails to notice the attentions of shopgirl Susie (played by pop star Amber Kuo). When his absent girlfriend finally dumps him, he agrees to deliver a package for gangster boss Brother Bao in order to raise the airfare to go to Paris and rapidly becomes entangled in a wildly-offbeat caper.”

Here’s a review from Variety and the trailer:
